Greenwood Academies Trust 500 word short story COMPETITION!
Greenwood Academies Trust are delighted to be launching their first 500 word short story competition!
The 500 word competition is for all children in YR3 YR4 and YR5 no matter what their ability.
This is an exciting opportunity for children to engage in a competition which will bring academies and regions together to share our love of writing and celebrate the talent we have in our primary academies.
Entrants must write an original story in 500 Words or fewer. The subject matter can be anything therefore it will be easy to fit into any up and coming topics, writing units, creative writing clubs etc before the end of the autumn term.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Year groups 3, 4 and 5 can apply.
Each year group will have their own 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. The overall year group winner will have their story read by a GAT employee along with additional prizes.
A celebration event for all 1st 2nd and 3rd winners will take place in the new year.
HOW TO PRESENT IT
All short stories can be hand written or typed, but must be printed out and posted to the address below (preferably all together for one school).

One bleak winter night, in the back streets of London......
PEARSONS publishers have agreed to sponsor the competition and are offering BUNDLES of BOOKS as prizes for our 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners - titles to be announced shortly, AND we have 100 copies of ‘The Ice Monster’ to give to our runners up!
