3rd Annual Safeguarding Conference 2019
A record turnout of Trust colleagues contributed to the 3rd Annual Safeguarding Conference on the 3rd of July 2019
Colleagues from across the Trust, from teaching, pastoral and support roles gathered in Peterborough for the 3rd Annual Safeguarding conference.
The hard hitting keynote speech from Luke Hart of @CoCoAwareness was an intensely emotionally charged re-telling of his family story of coercive control and domestic homicide. In an fascinating Q&A session that followed, Luke addressed how he and his family could have been helped as children, despite outwardly portraying a normal happy family.
With updates from CPOMs and our own internal Safeguarding Director and Manager, Wayne Oldfield and Gillian Quincey, the conference addressed contextualising Safeguarding and the Culture of Safeguarding, before ending with a hugely informed presentation from Tony Saggers, the Former Head of Drugs Threat at National Crime Agency on Gangs and County Lines.
This session quite rightly commanded the largest turnout of all the Learning Alliance Conferences of the academic year, and was a resounding success.
We look forward to seeing what next year's Safeguarding Conference brings.
