Learning Alliance

What a Year!

The 2nd Annual Safeguarding Conference closes our year of fantastic CPD events

What a year we have had! The Learning Alliance finished the 2017/18 Academic year CPD programme with our 2nd AnnualSafeguarding Conference. Opened by Trust Safeguarding Manager Wayne Oldfield and with a keynote from GAT CEO Wayne Norrie, the conference looked at mental health and self harm with Joanna Watson from Young Minds, anti-bullying with Paul Hanmore fromThe Diana Award, peer on peer abuse, extremism and child sexual exploitation with Dai Durbridge from Browne Jacobson, PREVENT and pathways to extremism with Jang Kayani and Bob Spencer from STAR Consultancy and Training, and finished with a session from Wayne Oldfield on consent and rape.

In a hugely interesting, often hard hitting, but truly powerful and important conference, delegates
covered difficult topics and expanded their awareness and skills in handling the most sensitive matters that can arise in our settings.
Our course leaders managed to deliver all this in such a way that delegates left smiling and inspired to
continue the vital work they do everyday for the Trust.

We now look forward to our programme of events for 2018/19.
